what level? FLOOR SIXX please!
I was invited to attend the Floor Sixx All Dayer event 20.10.17 at The RoundHouse Camden (apologies in getting this write up to you guys so late, #technicaldifficulties). What a day! The day kicked off with the exhibition, with a 'Fxxk your Zine' magazine available to all as you enter the venue past security. The magazine was filled with unique UNFILTERED opinions which we don't get much of these days unfortunately. I really enjoyed reading through the magazine my favourite quotable is "Mixing black lives with white lies through monochrome eyes aint easy when shit aint black and white" from the Fxxx Your Race spoken word piece.
I jumped into the open mic work shop, with an extra special judging panel with the likes of Koder(music artist, record label owner), NinaRose (PR, artist manager, events manager), Jabba Jones (MC, host), Rashid Kasirye (Owner of Link Up Tv). This was my favourite part of the alldayer as I have an undying love for raw talent. Before we delved into the open mic, The Compozers set it off with an incredible medley of the ends' favourite uk music followed by an Q&A. On the open mic roster there were performances from Madders Tiff, Daak Martin, Big Jest, House of Miagi, Dan Dannah, Khaos and Pandope just to name a few.
The producer battle that followed reminded me of the segment at JumpOff's events. I couldn't imagine creating a sick beat in 10 minutes, the talent was immense as it filled the room.
The photography workshop and Q&A with Ashley Verse, Courtney F Photo, Vicky Grout and Floor Sixx Students including Tanveer (check him out on the gram) was very informative, they all revealed why they first picked up a camera and how they got into the industry before they became uk music's best snappers.
Then the concert from the floor sixx students which comprised of singers, rappers, and hosts all from the academy. Followed by the students of F6 there were performances from Y. Bush, 23 unofficial, Capo Lee, Jammz, Big narstie, Afro B, CBiz and more.
And you thought they were done? To end the night there was even an AFTERPARTY (Sian & J2K wanted blooooood) !! Vibes pon vibes pon vibes!
What an amazing cause and product of hard work done by all the students of Floor Sixx's academy 2017! I personally cannot wait to see the work of the students of 2018 and several years to come !
